The project “3E: Explore – Experience – Enhance Cultural Tourism in the post earthquake area”, part of the EU4Culture program, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNOPS in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, for the call first of the projects “Recraft the Past, Build up the FUTURE”. This project is implemented by the Institute of Public and Private Policies (IP3), as one of the beneficiaries of the program. This initiative promotes the area of Durres, Kruja, Kavaja and Rrogozhina as an attractive destination for cultural tourism by highlighting the values of cultural heritage, rich history, local traditions, unique handicrafts and traditional food.
This guide is the first of its kind, connecting the four municipalities with their commonalities as well as their specific identities in a unique journey of history and culture, from antiquity to modern times, to encourage curiosity and enrich the information of tourists.
As part of this initiative, two routes have been created: the Cultural & Historical Monuments Route and the Culinary & Local Traditions Route. These aim to foster a sense of local identity and highlight the cultural heritage values in the area in order to promote the region as a tourist destination and boost the local economy.
We invite every tourist, local and foreign, on a fascinating journey of the history and cultural heritage of the area as well as to explore and experience local traditions by tasting traditional local food and creating unique memories through handcrafted products made with love.
